The Process: A Devotional About Patience

In college, I was a business management student. I wasn’t a huge fan of the accounting
courses and I could have done without those finance ones as well. But, there was something about the topic of Supply Chain Management that captured my attention. For all of those who may be reading and thinking; what is that? Well, let me share. Supply Chain Management is defined as the management of the flow of goods and services.. From the point of origin to consumption. This process includes the movement of raw goods, goods through work-in-progress to the finished product.
It was something about knowing the small, yet, significant details related to how products were made; from the different business relationships and departments involved in developing a product and it’s transfer from one place to the next. As a consumer, all we typically see is the end result - without even realizing that there was a process that took place. That there were intricate details and collaborations necessary to ensure that the product was in compliance with the creator’s intended use of the product.
And as I think about the subject, I can’t help but be reminded of the way that this same business structure is similar to faith. That God is our Creator, our manager and we are the product. He is the Potter, we are the clay. He is constantly shaping and molding us into who He has created us to be. Aligning us with different people and circumstances in an effort to complete the work He has started within us. At times, we may experience situations that “feel” as if we are being inconvenienced or delayed, but it’s quite the opposite. We are actually being crafted and refined. And there are times we don’t “feel”. like we are making progress; changing and evolving, but let me tell you - you are. With every step you choose to take forward, you are!
Let’s ask ourselves, what are some of the things within our lives that we lack patience with? If you can identify them, we can then ask the Holy Spirit, “What things are you trying to develop within me in this season of life?”
Let's Live This Thing!
