I’ve found myself asking lately… Are you okay? Like, how are you really doing? Full moment of transparency, over the past few months, I have not been doing well with taking intentional time for self care. Lately, understanding that I can not show up for anyone else well in the capacity that I was meant to preform, unless filled.

Having self-care check-ups, are extremely imperative. So I’ll also ask you, what is being done to ensure that you are taking care of yourself? A couple of weeks ago, I had a chance to take some time to step away: to pray, to sit still and to reflect. It was so nice y’all…I’m not going to lie; there was this underlying guilt that I had for taking some time, & I’m sharing because I know that I am not the only one who has or will experience this. It was hands down, absolutely needed. Rest, in a world that praises - the grind, we often forget that it’s a part of the process. Not a good addition to the process, no - it’s a part.

How can you see when your perspective is blurred or cloudy, how can you know where to go when you are constantly being pulled in several directions with no reflection, direction or order. Where there is no rest; soon comes chaos… Have you ever, for one reason or another stayed up for more than 24 hours, I mean… your eyes and your ears are not clear. It’s cloudy, your perspective is off. This is exactly what we look like when we are not getting proper time to stop.

In a place of rest, we have the opportunity to allow our spirit, soul & body the ability to assess, reset and revive. The definition of rest is to cease work or movement in order to relax, refresh oneself, or recover strength. I want to encourage you, once a week. Take the time to rest, & rest well…

Here are 10 Ways to Rest

1. Maintaining a proper sleep schedule

2. Sitting still in a quiet space

3. Journaling

4. Pampering… Ex. Bubble bath, face mask

5. Going for a walk

6. Read a book

7. Watch a movie

8. Take a road trip

9. Sit with a friend and catch up

10. Seek Therapy; Counsel

There are so many different things that you can implement when it comes to self care. Honestly it can be anything healthy & relaxing— adding life and value to your overall well being. I encourage you to schedule a time during each week for a day of rest.

Lets live this thing!

With Love,

Chalssie
